Baptist Health South Florida has started construction on the Gloria Drummond Patient Tower at Boca Raton Regional Hospital in Boca Raton, Fla.

The nine-story patient tower will include all-private patient rooms, surgical suites, and critical care units. Additionally, the facility will also house the Michelle and Michael Hagerty Center for Graduate Medical Education, more than doubling the facility’s education space.

The tower will measure more than 417,000 square feet and will expand the hospital to more than 1 million square feet. A two-story, 39,700-square-foot central energy plant is also being built. The project will pursue LEED and WELL certification.

The project team includes architecture firm HKS Architects (Coral Gables, Fla.), construction firm Robins & Morton (Orlando, Fla.), and TLC Engineering (engineer; Deerfield Beach, Fla.).
