The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, has resumed construction on a new inpatient hospital tower after pausing work due to cracks discovered between the first and second levels, according to the website beckershospitalreview.com.

An Ohio State spokesman said the cracking was attributed to a compression issue and isolated to a single column, according to the website dispatch.com.

The timeline for construction of the $1.9 billion hospital has not been altered and the project is still scheduled to open in early 2026.

The 820-bed project will house critical care, transplant, neurosciences, surgery, and women and infants care services.
