Florida Hospital Altamonte recently completed renovation work on its new neonatal intensive care unit (NICU),  designed by Gresham, Smith and Partners (GS&P), in Jacksonville, Fla.

The new NICU includes 10 private patient rooms, a family lounge and nesting room, and a calming environment for patients and families.

An existing medical and surgery unit was transformed into a Level 2 NICU which features space where parents can spend the night with their child. The family lounge includes a kitchen and an area for relaxation and TV/entertainment. There is also an adjacent shower and toilet room so that families can stay near their baby.

GS&P is also leading design for the final phase of this project supporting Florida Hospital Altamonte’s neonatal services, which will update and renovate the well-baby nursery and support spaces.
