Shell Point Retirement Community (Fort Myers, Fla.) completed the $78 million Larsen Health Center in Fort Myers.

Located in Shell Point’s Waterside neighborhood, the 200,000-square-foot facility includes a comprehensive medical center, behavioral health suite, rehabilitation center, dental offices, pharmacy, and 180-bed skilled nursing facility with private rooms.

The medical center  includes exam and procedure rooms, on-site imaging services, and offices for Shell Point’s medical staff and specialty physicians. The center offers inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services in an open-gym concept, along with an occupational therapy home suite, state-of-the-art aqua therapy pool, and private treatment rooms. The second floor houses a full-service salon for residents, employee cafeteria, and administrative offices.

The skilled nursing rooms are located on floors two through six and include 162 private units and nine companion units, which are organized into neighborhoods that can accommodate 20 residents. Each neighborhood includes a living room, activity room, lounge area, and family conference room. Resident rooms feature 10-foot ceilings, expansive windows, and well-appointed bathrooms with walk-in showers.

The project team comprises RDG Planning & Design (architect; Omaha, Neb.), Wegman Design Group (designer; Naples, Fla.), The Weitz Company (general contractor; Des Moines, Iowa), Johnson Engineering (engineer; Fort Myers), and Stantec Consulting Services (designer and consultant; Edmonton, Alberta, Canada).
