HMC Architects Outlines Climate Action Strategy
HMC Architects (Los Angeles) has published a seven-resolution climate action plan that challenges the firm’s 350-plus employees to work toward the reduction of greenhouse gasses associated with the built environment. The plan highlights ways to measure, plan, and reduce the firm’s carbon footprint with the overarching goal of zero carbon architecture.
The action plan’s seven resolutions are within a framework of three distinct initiatives including looking at how the firm’s personal operations can reduce its impact on the environment; reducing its emissions through architecture; and the firm’s overall impact in alignment with greater initiatives at the state, national, and global level. Actionable ideas include using healthy building materials and implementing a green building rating system on all projects 50,000-square-feet and above.
