Houston Methodist Cancer Center at Sugar Land, Sugar Land, Texas, recently expanded and upgraded its Infusion Center to better serve patients undergoing chemotherapy. The new 7,450-square-foot Infusion Center – located on the second floor of the Houston Methodist Cancer Center at Sugar Land, is nearly twice the size of the old facility.

It features 20 private rooms and a fast-track area with two chairs for patients who need a port flush or other quick procedures. An expanded on-site oncology pharmacy will enable the center to provide treatments in a timely manner. The hospital enlisted help from current chemotherapy patients in elements of the center’s design.

Houston Methodist Breaks Ground For New Patient Tower

Officials at the Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital broke ground last week for a new patient tower set to open in early 2022. A report in the Houston Chronicle confirms that the $250 million expansion project will house 100 beds in the new tower, 10 new operating rooms, and expansion of the endoscopy center, heart center, diagnostic imaging department, and emergency center. Reporter Jamie Swinnerton writes: “The 10 new surgical rooms included in the expansion will bring the hospitals surgical rooms to a total of 25, and the expansion of the emergency center will bring the total of rooms to 45 for that department.”
