Las Vegas Medical District, a collaborative effort between the city of Las Vegas and the downtown Las Vegas medical and healthcare community, plans to implement several improvements, according to the website lasvegassun.com.

In addition to the construction of a new $150 medical school for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the district is planning to build a mixed-use hub that includes 500 housing units, and office and retail space to attract healthcare workers to the area.

University Medical Center (Las Vegas), part of the district, is also planning a $50 million project to replace the exterior on all of its buildings.

In addition, a $7.4 million shuttle system will be installed to transport people throughout the district.
