Boston-based architecture firm Shepley Bulfinch has promoted Matthew Gifford, AIA, LEED AP, to principal. For 15 years, Gifford has been part of the firm’s design team, creating sustainable student life facilities. Since joining Shepley Bulfinch in 2004, Gifford has led projects for academic institutions such as Amherst College, Johns Hopkins University, and Xavier University. His recent work with Smith College and Loyola University Maryland further showcases a values-based approach to sustainability. He has presented on healthy building materials at Greenbuild and the Society of College and University Planning (SCUP) conferences. Gifford holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech and a Master of Urban Design from The City University of New York. He is a member of the Boston Society of Architects.
