Over the next decade, UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, Calif., plans to invest $1.9 billion in expansion and renovation projects, according to the Sacramento Business Journal.

The project development plan includes a 1.15-million-square-foot addition for a planned satellite campus in Sacramento, a new 800,000-square-foot hospital tower, and a 57,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center. The medical center’s footprint is expected to increase from 3.5 million square feet to 6.2 million square feet.

The new medical center tower will have a minimum of 200 inpatient beds and the new surgery center will have 270 exam rooms.

UC Davis also plans to add 1,200 parking spaces to its campus, build a cancer center, and update its facilities to seismic codes.
