The building site creates a plaza along its main façade with seating and plantings to break down the monotony of the street wall and storefront by reintroducing public space as part of the community fabric.

The ground floor is programmed with the main entrance on the west façade with immediate access to the lobby, an urgent care center, imaging suite, laboratory, pharmacy, insurance center, and building services .

Backlit perforated metal panels along the parking levels provide diffuse lighting for safety in the evening and natural ventilation. Above, a folded angled curtain wall with the vision glazing on the outward slope reduces reflection and the spandrel glass on the upward slope mitigates solar gain in the early to late afternoon.

The folding ceiling in the ground floor lobby extends the exterior aesthetic into the space, continuing the striking appearance of the parametrically designed panels. Each floor was developed in a highly flexible planning module to provide future adaptation to program shifts and volumes in care.

The waiting areas for the practice are located along the length of the western façade, which is draped in an articulated glass wall that provides views out over the city.

Comfortable, modern seating coalesces with the building’s aesthetic and provides both function and time-tested form.

Infusion bays located on the 5th floor house recliners to help patients relax and change positions during treatment. Modular case goods define personal space, and guest chairs in each bay allow family members to stay with the patient during treatment.

An exam room on the 6th floor is situated next to the exterior curtain wall, providing exterior views that can help the patient relax. A wall-mounted workstation eliminates wasted space and encourages patient interaction.
The 160,000-square-foot Emblem Health Medical Office Building, Emblem’s newest facility, is designed to provide outpatient medical services in Brooklyn, N.Y. Positioned to meet the needs of an underserved community in an urban setting, the building was strategically located near major mass transportation to attract patients to the health system’s expanding services.
Major design features of the seven-story facility, designed by Array Architects, include a parametrically designed folding glass exterior wall that mitigates late-afternoon solar gain, discrete off-street parking, and backlit metal panels that lend a soft glow to the building at night.
Opened in April 2019, the project is one of the largest and newest buildings in the neighborhood, supporting community growth.
