Planning and design is completed for Covenant Health Hobbs Hospital a smart-sized 109,794-square-foot facility based in Hobbs, N.M. The hospital will provide convenient access to healthcare to people of Hobbs and Lea County, N.M.

Opening in spring 2022, the three-story community hospital will house 60 patient beds, including an eight-bed intensive care unit and eight-bed birthing center. Additionally it will house an emergency department, intensive care unit, four operating rooms, and a C-section procedure room. Clinical services including general medicine, general surgery, OB/GYN, general cardiology, and general orthopedics will also be offered. A dedicated Women’s Health Center, including bone density and mammography , as well as a 2,000-square-foot community center for various health education, screenings, and events, are also planned.

E4H Environments for Health Architecture (Dallas) started with the prototype chassis and adjusted it to meet the desired key planning units of the new facility. The exterior design was inspired by the regional architecture of New Mexico. The grounding colors of this New Mexican color palette includes coppers, ochre, umber, sand, and other natural hues evoke a serene and sun-infused warmth, while keeping the facility open and modern. The layout maximizes views to nature, bringing in exterior light wherever possible.
