Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation (Sauget, Ill.) is planning to build a replacement for Touchette Regional Hospital in Cahokia Heights, Ill., according to The Business Journals.
The $231 million project includes a 177,445-square-foot, 108-bed hospital located 4 miles from the existing facility, which opened in 1958. The new hospital also will house an emergency department (ED), and 96 of the 108 beds will be dedicated to behavioral health, divided into four pods based on age.
If a certificate of need is approved by Illinois state regulators, construction on the new hospital is expected to be completed by mid-2030.
