A $231 million project to replace Touchette Regional Hospital in Cahokia Heights, Ill., has been approved by the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board (Springfield, Ill.), according to fox2now.com.
The project will replace the existing 65-year-old hospital with a new 108-bed facility on a 35-acre site. Of the 108 beds, 96 will be dedicated to inpatient behavioral healthcare, including 24 beds for children ages 12 to 17 and 24 beds for geriatric patients.
Additionally, the new hospital will house 12 medical-surgical beds, an emergency department (ED), operating rooms (ORs), and an imaging department.
Construction is expected to start in spring 2027 and be completed in summer 2030.
