Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., is undertaking a major campus expansion with the construction of an 11-story acute care tower.

Slated for completion in 2028, the 491,150-square-foot project utilizes an integrated project delivery (IPD)-lite process to align the project team, which includes architect and interior designer FCA (Philadelphia) and general contractor Turner Construction Company (Philadelphia).

The new tower will transition the hospital to all-private patient rooms and grow the emergency department (ED) by 22 treatment areas, including three trauma bays and dedicated space for behavioral health patients. Additionally, the medical center tower will add 24 intensive care unit beds and six hybrid-capable operating rooms.
