Hoag Hospital Irvine’s Sun Family Campus Expansion Nears Opening In Irvine, California

Hoag Hospital Irvine’s Sun Family Campus expansion is set to open this month in Irvine, Calif., according to the Los Angeles Times.

The $1.2 billion, 500,000-square-foot project comprises six new buildings with 155 inpatient beds, eight operating rooms, and 120,000 square feet of ambulatory facilities.

The buildings include pavilions for the women’s hospital, women’s outpatient services, cancer and digestive hospital, cancer and digestive outpatient services, surgery, and lab and logistics.

The women’s hospital pavilion houses 24 labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum suites; 21 antepartum and postpartum rooms; a dedicated obstetrics triage space; a 17-bed neonatal intensive care unit; and three operating rooms for cesarean sections.

A new Comprehensive Breast Center features seven mammography suites, six ultrasound suites, and 29 women’s health exam rooms.

The cancer and digestive hospital houses 70 inpatient rooms, while the outpatient pavilion includes a specialized oncology pharmacy, 42 private infusion rooms, 31 oncology exam rooms, and six gastrointestinal procedure suites.

New sky bridges connect the outpatient pavilions to the existing hospital.

LPA (Irvine) is the architect and interior designer on the project.
