South Florida Baptist Hospital Set For Mid-May Opening

The new, 146-room hospital replaces a 70-year-old facility and includes an emergency department, cardiac rehabilitation, gym, medical arts building, and chapel.

BayCare Health System (Clearwater, Fla.) expects to open the new South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City, Fla., in May, according to newspaper website The Lakeland Ledger.

On 50 acres, the 424,000-square-foot hospital includes two, six-story towers, 146 private patient rooms, an 85,000-square-foot medical arts building, emergency department, cardiac rehabilitation, surgery center with eight operating rooms, 15-bed labor and delivery unit with C-section room, 20-unit infusion center, gym, chapel, and café, according to the hospital’s website.

The emergency center on the hospital’s first floor has 28 private patient rooms and two resuscitation rooms. A “Heritage Hallway” features tributes to donors and the hospital’s legacy.
