Big-box retailer Walmart (Bentonville, Ark.) announced that it will close its Walmart Health division, including Walmart Health Virtual Care and 51 health centers across five states in the U.S.

In a news release, Walmart cited a “challenging reimbursement environment and escalating operating costs [that] create a lack of profitability.”

The retailer plans it  will continue to operate nearly 4,600 pharmacies and more than 3,000 vision centers in the U.S.

Walmart opened two health centers in Houston this month.
