Partners HealthCare is planning an aggressive expansion, spending $400 million to open four outpatient surgery centers that will compete for patients in Boston’s suburbs.

Ceremonial shovels recently broke ground for the new Utica Medical Center, Utica, N.Y., a 373-bed, 672,000-square-foot, nine-story building and parking garage on 25 acres.

Renovations began in the spring of 2019 as part of a $33.5 million, multi-phase modernization project in Morris, Ill., designed to enhance patient and visitor comfort.

The new 60-bed hospital will be built on the provider’s existing 115-acre campus in the Bartram Park area of Jacksonville, Fla.

The 40,000-square-foot facility will serve residents of Bastrop County, Texas.
