The new unit is part of the hospital’s $161 million ED expansion.

The $28 million project adds 50,000 square feet of space to the center, including a perioperative suite, urgent care clinic, lab, and pharmacy.

The replacement hospital will house a birth center, cancer center, heart center, outpatient surgery, ED, imaging, and orthopedics clinic.

The $138 million inpatient hospital will replace the Marshall I. Pickens Psychiatric Hospital and will be located on the Greenville Memorial Hospital campus.

Plans call for a 30,000-square-foot hospital and 15,000-square-foot skilled nursing community.

The 5-story Kenneth C. Griffin Surgical Tower was built atop the hospital’s existing ED and houses 12 ORs.

The project will add a new inpatient tower with a 10-bed NICU and cardiology unit.

The 10,000-square-foot facility houses 11 patient rooms, a trauma center, and imaging services.
