$50M MUSC Black River Medical Center Planned For South Carolina

The 64,000-square-foot replacement hospital will include 25 inpatient beds and two ORs.

MUSC Health (Charleston, S.C.) is building the $50 million MUSC Black River Medical Center in Lake City, S.C., to expand services, according to the website wmbfnews.com.

The 64,000-square-foot hospital will replace two area medical facilities, Lake City Community Hospital, which was built in the 1950s, and Williamsburg Regional Hospital, which opened in 1965.

The new facility will include:

  • 25 inpatient beds
  • five observation beds
  • two operating rooms (ORs)
  • 16 emergency treatment areas
  • laboratory, respiratory, and pharmacy services.

The project is scheduled for completion in January 2023.
