Advocate Health Care (Oak Brook, Ill.) is planning to replace the more than 115-year-old Advocate Trinity Hospital (Chicago) with a new, smaller hospital on the South Side of Chicago, according to the website chicagotribune.com.
Situated on 23 acres, the $320 million project will be part of a more than 400-acre site that will also include IBM’s National Quantum Algorithm Center.
The new hospital will house an emergency department (ED), intensive care unit (ICU), and 52 beds compared with Advocate Trinity’s current 205 beds.
Construction is slated for completion in 2029.
In addition to replacing Trinity, Advocate plans to spend $500 million to expand outpatient care on the South Side, including by opening 10 neighborhood care locations in churches and community centers, according to chicagotribune.com.
The system is also building an immediate care center at its mixed-use development Imani Village (Chicago) outpatient care clinic.
