Atrium Health (Charlotte, N.C.) and Morehouse School of Medicine (Atlanta) are planning to build a new $700 million teaching hospital in Atlanta, according to a news release.
The project aims to expand access to care following the closure of two Atlanta medical centers in 2022.
The acute care hospital is expected to open with approximately 50 beds and have the capacity to expand to more than 700 beds. Planned services include emergency care, a Level III trauma center, obstetrics and neonatal intensive care, imaging, cardiac catheterization, interventional radiology, and endoscopy.
The campus also offers space for outpatient medical offices and research.
