Baptist Health Care has opened the new 57-acre Brent Lane campus in Pensacola, Fla., which includes Baptist Hospital, the Bear Family Foundation Health Center, and a behavioral health unit.

The 10-story, 268-bed Baptist Hospital houses general medical and surgical rooms, critical care areas, a mother-baby unit, surgery department, specialty cardiac care treatment and procedure rooms, and a Level II trauma center.

The six-story, 178-000-square-foot Bear Family Foundation Health Center houses multispecialty services, including oncology, women’s health, outpatient imaging, bariatrics, and cardiology; a lab; and conference center for public events, health education, and community outreach.

The behavioral health unit includes 72 beds to treat seniors, adults, adolescents, and children.

The campus buildings are designed with resiliency features including a hardened building structure and envelope to withstand hurricane force winds and rain. Additionally, electrical feed and potable water redundancies will enable the hospital to operate off-grid in the event of an emergency.

Gresham Smith (Nashville, Tenn.) provided architecture, interior design, engineering, landscape architecture, flood mapping, and climate science consulting services for the project.
