Short-term treatment and stabilization program Bronx Support and Connection Center (SCC) has opened in New York.

The facility, a project of The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (New York) and the Mayor’s Office of Community Mental Health (New York), provides clinical and social services, such access to food, showers, laundry, and limited overnight stays.

Samaritan Daytop Village (Briarwood, N.Y.), a nonprofit health and human services provider, is handling the clinical services.

SCC serves as an alternative program to emergency room visits and criminal justice interventions and will also serve patients referred by the city’s recently expanded Behavioral Health Emergency Assistance Response Division program.
