Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (Roanoke, Va.) completed and opened the new Crystal Springs Tower expansion that consolidates cardiology services in one space in Roanoke, according to a news release from ESa (Nashville, Tenn.) the architect and designer on the project.
The 507,000-square-foot project unites surgery, imaging, intensive care, and recovery in a single, connected facility.
According to a fact sheet from health system Carilion Clinic (Roanoke), the tower houses five trauma bays, including a dedicated Level 1 pediatric trauma bay; three cardiothoracic surgery operating rooms (ORs); two endovascular ORs; two general vascular ORs; six cardiac catheterization labs; three electrophysiology labs; 76 intensive care and progressive care inpatient rooms; 46 pre- and post-operative care rooms; and 125 emergency department (ED) beds, including an expanded co-located ED observation unit.
The project also includes three shelled floors to accommodate up to 96 additional inpatient beds and a new 550-space parking garage with a covered bridge connecting to the new facility.
In addition to ESa, the project team includes Robins & Morton (Richmond, Va.; builder), Branch Builds (Roanoke); construction manager), Enfinity Engineering (Brentwood, Tenn.),
