Centra Health Breaks Ground On New 6-Story Tower At Centra Lynchburg General Hospital In Virginia

The 266,200-square-foot project will house a new ED, perioperative floor with surgical inpatient unit, and labor and deliver, mother/baby, and intensive care nursery.

Centra Health (Danville, Va.) held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction on a new 6-story tower at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, Va., according to a news release.

The 266,200-square-foot project will include a new emergency department (ED), perioperative floor with surgical inpatient unit, and labor and deliver, mother/baby, and intensive care nursery.

The existing ED will be replaced with more than 70 treatment spaces, a split-flow care model to improve patient experience, an integrated EmPATH psychiatric care space, and imaging results lounge

The new perioperative floor will include 12 modern operating rooms and post-surgery patient recovery rooms.
