Kansas and Sedgwick County officials held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction on the new South Central Regional Psychiatric Hospital in Wichita, Kan., according to The Wichita Eagle.
Part of plans for a 77-acre behavioral health campus, the $101.5 million hospital will house 104 beds for adults in a mental health crisis or needing competency services to stand trial.
The project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2026.
