Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center Starts Patient Tower Construction In Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania

The first vertical steel beams are going up on the 11-story expansion, which is expected to be completed in 2028.

Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., has reached a construction milestone with the first vertical steel beams being placed on a new 11-story patient tower according to constructionowners.com.

The $900 million, 600,000-square-foot expansion project will increase the number of inpatient beds from 356 to 500, add six operating rooms, and enlarge the emergency department.

The tower is expected to open in the first quarter of 2028.
