Hackensack Meridian Health Ocean Medical Center celebrated the grand opening of its new $18.5 million medical/surgical suite in Brick, N.J.

The suite, which increased in size to 36,000-square-feet, is dedicated to elective surgeries such as hip and joint replacements and bariatric and GI procedures. The unit features three neighborhoods with 12 patient rooms, nurses’ stations , and 36 private patient rooms. The design, artwork, and colors have been selected to reduce stress and noise levels, promote wellness, increase patient and family comfort, and enhance the role family members play in the healing process.

The new medical-surgical suite, located on the third floor above Ocean Medical Center’s Hirair and Anna Hovnanian Emergency Care Center, complements the 2014 expansion of the emergency care center and the construction of the new cancer care center in 2016.

The medical design specialist is WHR Architects.
