HCA Healthcare Submits COPN For New Hospital In Virginia

If approved, the facility would be the 13th public acute care hospital in the Richmond area and the seventh operated by HCA.

Health system HCA Healthcare (Nashville, Tenn.) has submitted a request for a certificate of public need (COPN) to build a new hospital in Richmond, Va., according to the website richmond.com

The proposed $233.6 million project would include 60 inpatient beds moved from HCA’s Henrico Doctors’ Hospital – Retreat in Richmond. The Retreat hospital would continue to operate with a decreased licensed-bed count of 167 beds, according to the website richmondbizsense.com.

The new project would also house four operating rooms (ORs) and a cardiac catheterization lab.
