Officials at Indiana University (IU) celebrated the topping out of its IU Health Regional Academic Health Center earlier this month in Bloomington, Ind. An article in Inside Indiana Business reports that the nearly $400 million project received its “final steel beam on the structural frame of the massive health facility.”

The topping out ceremony concluded exterior and vertical construction on the seven-story project. Hospital employees, volunteers, and community signed sign beam with more than 1,000 attendees present. “The 735,000 square-foot complex is a combination healthcare center and educational facility,” writes Wes Mills. “It includes inpatient and outpatient services, a women’s center, trauma center and emergency department. The facility also includes a new IU Academic Health Sciences Building which will consolidate most of the university’s health science programs under one facility…The new medical campus is scheduled to open in 2021.”
