James Paget University Hospital in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England, has submitted a planning application for a replacement hospital in Gorleston, Norfolk, England, according to the BBC.
The project would replace a teaching hospital and include a 10-story hospital with 630 beds, 80 more than the current facility, the BBC reports. A multistory parking garage is also planned.
The proposal calls for building the new facility on hospital-owned land to the west of the current facility, which will remain in use during the project before being demolished. Additionally, several existing buildings at the site will be retained, including the education and training center, renal unit, and MRI suite.
Construction is expected to begin in 2027 or 2028.
