The Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center recently broke ground on its new 22,000-square-foot expansion project in Arverne, N.Y.

The addition will double the center’s existing space and increase patient capacity and services in a neighborhood affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Designed by Gertler & Wente Architects, the three-story health center will provide medical, mental health, and physical therapy services. Primary care services for children and adults include pediatrics, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, and dental as well as HIV prevention and intervention; allergies, nutrition, podiatry, ophthalmology, and social work services.

The project is expected to completed by 2019. Denham Wolf served as Addabbo’s owner’s representative for the initial building project, which opened in 2005, and is serving in this role again for the expansion.
