Laing O’Rourke, Gleeds Team Up For Specialist, Critical Care Centre

The 47-bed hospital will provide complex specialist and critical care treatment for more than 600,000 people in southeast Wales.

Property and construction consultancy Gleeds has been appointed as project and cost manager, joining principal contractor Laing O’Rourke, to deliver the £350 million Specialist and Critical Care Centre (SCCC) in Llanfrechfa, Wales, for the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

The 47-bed, 55,000m2 hospital will provide complex specialist and critical care treatment for more than 600,000 people in southeast Wales, and includes a 24-hour acute assessment unit and emergency department.

Project completion is scheduled for spring 2021.
