Lee Health (Fort Myers, Fla.) is expanding its plans for the new 53-acre Fort Myers Medical Campus to include another patient tower with 92 additional beds in Fort Myers, according to constructionreviewonline.com.

The new addition to the project will house a child development center and 20-bed skilled nursing unit as well as 48 acute care beds and shell space for an additional 24 acute care beds.

This expansion will mean that the campus will be capable of housing up to 260 total beds, instead of 168 beds as previously planned, with 236 beds ready by opening day.

The campus will include a replacement full-service hospital with 18 operating rooms, a 44-bed emergency department, and up to 24 intensive care unit beds, as well as a medical office building that will be home to the Lee Health Musculoskeletal Institute.
