Legacy Health (Portland, Ore.) has completed the first phase of a $37 million expansion and improvement project at Legacy Silverton Medical Center in Silverton, Ore., according to the website legacyhealth.org.

The project added 21,000 square feet to the existing hospital, including an expanded emergency department (ED) and a new hospital entrance and patient drop-off area.

The ED expanded from 12 to 20 patient rooms and added a trauma treatment bay, trauma and cardiac patient rooms, and space for women’s services.

Additional improvements on the project include a covered drop-off/pick-up zone at the main entrance, new family waiting room in the Silverton Family Birth Center, and a new helipad and chapel. The modernization of the reception lobby features registration stations, private admitting booths, a newly designed coffee shop, gift shop, and volunteer greeter station.
