Northwell Health (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) completed an expansion of the emergency department (ED) at John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson, N.Y., according to a news release.
The $78 million, 29,000-square-foot Frey Family Emergency Department more than doubles the size of the existing ED with larger patient exam rooms, including six specialized rooms for behavioral health.
The new ED also includes a new super track area to serve patients with less critical needs using a mix of private rooms and a results waiting area.
Infrastructure is in place to support the conversion of a significant portion of the new ED to negative-pressure rooms.
