Mercy Hospital (Fort Smith, Ark.) and Kindred Healthcare (Louisville, Ky.) are building a new rehabilitation facility in Fort Smith for adults recovering from stroke, neurological disease, and brain or spinal cord injuries, according to an article in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette.

Situated on 4 acres, the 62,570-square-foot Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital-Fort Smith includes 50 private patient rooms, a brain injury unit with private dining and therapy gym, large interdisciplinary gyms, dialysis treatment areas, and therapeutic courtyard with golf, pickleball, and cornhole.

The rehabilitation hospital will also serve as a teaching site for the Arkansas Colleges of Health Education’s School of Occupational Therapy and School of Physical Therapy (Fort Smith).
