Methodist University Hospital Opens Shorb Tower

The nine-story, 450,000-square-foot patient tower in Memphis, Tenn., is part of the hospital’s campus expansion project, which also includes a 700-space parking plaza.

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare celebrated the opening of its new $275 million Shorb Tower at Methodist University Hospital (MUH) in Memphis, Tenn.

The nine-story, 450,000-square-foot tower, constructed on top of the existing emergency department, is part of the health system’s $275 million MUH campus expansion project which also includes a 700-space parking plaza.

Included in Shorb Tower are 18 new operating rooms, three of which are dedicated to transplant. The hospital also features cardiology, blood and marrow transplant, and oncology services.

Project partners include Turner Construction Co., Self+Tucker Architects, Archimania, HKS Inc., Bernhard TME, and Allen & Hoshall.

The next phase of the project includes 94,000 square feet of renovations to existing patient and operating rooms.
