Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC; Charleston, S.C.) and Clemson University (Clemson, S.C.) have started construction on a student medical and research facility in Clemson, S.C., according to a news release.
The 3-story, 90,000-square-foot facility will replace the Redfern Health Center (Clemson), built in 1969.
The project will expand existing medical, counseling, and psychological services to include advanced imaging, a human performance research center, and sports medicine and ambulatory surgery center.
Additionally, a pharmacy, lab, and allergy and immunization clinic for students will be housed in the facility.
The health center is expected to be completed in fall 2027, according to a news release from RMF Engineering (Charleston, S.C.), which is providing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering design services on the project.
