Nationwide Children’s Hospital Begins Construction On New Patient Tower In Columbus, Ohio

Nationwide Children’s Hospital has started construction on a new patient tower on its campus in Columbus, Ohio, according to 10tv.com.

The 14-story, 850,000-square foot tower will house 240 patient beds; it’s expected to open in 2028.

The new building will also house an expansion of the hospital’s emergency department, neonatal and pediatric intensive care units (NICU; PICU), and the hematology, oncology, and blood and marrow transplant department, according to columbusunderground.com.

The NICU, comprising three floors in the new tower, will feature private patient rooms and amenities for parents so they can stay with their newborns. The PICU will include 18 new beds, adding to 54 PICU beds in the existing tower.
