New VA Hospital Slated For Oklahoma

The project will renovate a former hospital into a 52-bed facility with skilled nursing and inpatient substance abuse treatment services.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA; Oklahoma City, Okla.) plans to acquire the former Norman Specialty Hospital in Norman, Okla., and convert it into a new VA hospital, according to the website thenormantranscript.com.

The department will pay $3.2 million for the hospital, which has been vacant since 2014, and has approved $10 million for building modifications including infrastructure upgrades, according to officials.

The new VA facility will house 52 beds, including 26 for short- or long-term skilled nursing and 26 for inpatient substance abuse treatment.
