Orlando Health To Expand Footprint In Florida

The health system plans to invest more than $750 million over the next 4 years on a new hospital, freestanding EDs, and physician offices.

Health system Orlando Health (Orlando, Fla.) announced plans to spend more than $750 million over the next four years on a new hospital in Brevard County, Fla.; freestanding emergency departments (ED) in north, central, and southern Brevard; and physician offices, according to the website floridatoday.com.

The news comes after the health system disclosed that it will close its Rockledge Hospital in Rockledge, Fla., citing the hospital’s poor physical condition that the company said made it unsafe for patients and staff, according to floridatoday.com

The location for the new hospital is still being determined.
