Piedmont Healthcare recently marked a construction milestone with the topping out of the new Piedmont Atlanta Tower in Atlanta.

Framing on the 16-story expansion project is now complete and the tower is scheduled to open in late summer 2020.

The tower will house Piedmont Heart Institute, the new Marcus Heart and Vascular Center, and the Samsky Invasive Cardiovascular Services Center.

Phase II of the tower up-fit will begin in 2022 and one patient floor will be completed per year, except for 2026 when the final two floors will be built out. Phase I of the project will cost $450 million. When the whole project is complete in 2026, it will come at a cost of $603 million.

The project partners include Brasfield & Gorrie (general contractor); CBRE (program manager); HKS Inc. (architect); and Morris, Manning, and Martin (outside legal counsel).
