As part of an expansion project at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in Shrewsbury, United Kingdom, the hospital is adding patient sky gardens to the new critical care unit and oncology ward, according to a news release.

The outdoor gardens are located on the top floor of the 4-story addition and offer patients, visitors, and staff space away from clinical areas and without the sounds of medical devices.

The expansion also includes a remodeled emergency department (ED), ambulance canopy, and new front entrance on the ground floor.

The project team includes Integrated Health Projects, a joint venture between VINCI Building (builder; London) and Sir Robert McAlpine (construction and engineering firm; London), as the general contractor.
