Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla Completes North Tower Addition In California  

The 8-story, 420,000-square-foot tower houses 188 inpatient beds, a mother-baby unit, and nine advanced operating rooms.

Scripps Health (San Diego) has completed a $664-million expansion of Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla in La Jolla, Calif., according to a news release 

Designed by interdisciplinary firm HGA (San Diego), the 8-story, 420,000-square-foot North Tower houses 188 inpatient beds, expanding the total bed count at the La Jolla campus to 495, including 36 new neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) beds.  

The North Tower also houses a mother-baby unit, nine advanced operating rooms (including two with robotic surgery equipment), 40 pre- and post-surgery beds, 12 observational beds, an imaging center, three interventional radiology suites, and a cafeteria.  

In addition to HGA, the project team includes McCarthy Building Companies (St. Louis) as the builder.
