Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla Completes North Tower Addition In La Jolla, California  

The 8-story, 420,000-square-foot tower houses its own complete hospital with 188 inpatient beds and includes the hospital’s mother-baby unit, as well as advanced ORs.

Scripps Health (San Diego) has completed a $664-million expansion of Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla in La Jolla, Calif., according to a news release 

Designed by interdisciplinary firm HGA (San Diego), the new 8-story, 420,000-square-foot North Tower houses its own complete hospital with 188 inpatient beds and includes the hospital’s mother-baby unit.

The project expands the total bed count at the La Jolla campus to 495, including the addition of 36 neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) beds.  

The North Tower also houses nine advanced operating rooms (ORs), including two with robotic surgery equipment; 40 pre- and post-surgery beds, 12 observational beds, an imaging center, three interventional radiology suites, and a ground-floor cafeteria.
