CHI Franciscan Health‘s St. Anthony Hospital recently celebrated the grand opening of its fifth floor in Gig Harbor, Wash.

The new 25,000-square-foot expansion will serve as the hospital’s surgical floor, adding 32 more patient beds for a total bed count of 112 beds. Under the new layout, the medication dispensing area was designed to promote uninterrupted handling of medications to help prevent medication errors and nursing staff will have increased visibility into patient rooms.

The certificate of need (CON) request was submitted by CHI Franciscan in June 2016 and on Nov. 29, 2016, the Washington State Department of Health granted the CON.
