The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (Austin, Texas) and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (Dallas) are planning a new state psychiatric hospital to treat adults and individuals involved with the justice system in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, according to an article in CBSDFW.com.

More than $1 billion in funding has been appropriated for the replacement, renovation, or expansion of state hospitals throughout the state, including more than $44.7 million for the new state psychiatric hospital.

The project’s timeline is to be determined and is contingent on legislative approval.
