Trillium Health Partners Breaks Ground On Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital In Ontario, Canada

The 2.8-million-square-foot project triples the size of the existing teaching hospital and will include a 22-story patient care tower with 350 beds.

The Ontario Government and Trillium Health Partners (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada) have started construction on the new Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital in Mississauga, according to a news release.

The 2.8-million-square-foot project triples the size of the existing teaching hospital and will include a 22-story patient care tower with 350 beds, bringing the total number of beds to more than 950.

The $14 billion project will also include nine new and 14 enhanced operating rooms, a new 24/7 emergency department, advanced diagnostic imaging facilities, a new pharmacy, and clinical lab. The Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children will also be housed in the new tower and span more than 200,000 square feet, including a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
