Two Children’s Hospitals Planned In Texas

Texas Children’s Hospital and Dell Children’s Medical Center are both planning Austin-based projects.

Two children’s hospitals are being planned in Texas, reported Becker’s Hospital Review.

Texas Children’s Hospital (Houston) is breaking ground on a $450 million freestanding women and children’s hospital in Austin. The 360,000-square-foot project will house 48 beds, operating rooms (ORs), and neonatal and pediatric intensive care units. It is scheduled to open in 2023.

Dell Children’s Medical Center (Austin), part of the Ascension Seton (Austin) network, is planning a children’s hospital in north Austin. The 131,000-square-foot project will house 36 beds, two ORs, and a $113 million specialty care facility. The $191 million project is slated to open in 2022.
